Tox & Filler Appointment FAQ

During your appointment, we will discuss your goals and review your health history to make sure that wrinkle smoothing and/ or fillers are the right option for you. We will also discuss alternatives to Botox and fillers, and come up with a plan to meet your beauty goals. 

For those patients getting "tox" such as Botox or Xeomin, marks will be made on the areas to be injected, and I will then recommend the amount of units needed in order to achieve optimal results.

The length of your appointment depends on what service is being performed. Typically, wrinkle treatment and follow-up appointments take 30-45 minutes, and lip injections take between 45 minutes to one hour. If you are coming in for an IV drip, please allow at least one hour for your appointment. 

• 1 week before:
  • Avoid NSAIDs like aspirin, Aleve, Motrin, and Ibuprofen for at least 5 days. 
    • Never stop taking any prescribed blood thinners without permission from your doctor!
  • Start using Arnica Montana, a natural herb which helps prevent bruising and swelling. 
    • Different forms of Arnica (gel/tablets) can be found at stores like Sprouts and Wal-Mart.
• 24 hours before:
  • Avoid alcohol to prevent bleeding and bruising.
• Day of your injections:
  • Eat a light snack about 20-30 mins before to prevent feeling lightheaded.
  • Arrive with a clean face, if possible. 

To prevent infection, please arrive to your appointment with a clean face (no makeup).

Absolutely! My only request is that you only bring one person with you, and that you do not bring young children unless there is another adult with you.

The short answer? Possibly. 

Although I try my best to inject gently, other factors can increase the likelihood of bruising, such as your anatomy, skin integrity (how thin/sensitive), recent use of certain medications, and recent alcohol intake. 

Since it is hard to predict whether or not you will have bruising, I highly recommend you space out your appointment at least two weeks before any important social events.
